The Royal St George Yacht Club is eagerly anticipating the return home tomorrow of two sailing adventurers, Peter and Susan Gray, after an eight-year trip around the world in their yacht Waxwing.
Their journey will be completed tomorrow afternoon when the couple make the short, final leg from Kinsale, Co Cork.
The club is hoping that a flotilla of upwards of 100 boats will make the trip to Dalkey Sound to greet the returning couple.
They are expected at 2 p.m., before making their way to the Dún Laoghaire clubhouse to continue the celebrations.
Mr Gray is a former president of the Irish Sailing Association and was the Ireland team manager for the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
Waxwing is a 41ft ketch which safely saw them cover the globe with only one significant crisis.
After leaving New Zealand, where the couple have two daughters, they hit a cyclone in the South Pacific, causing a partial capsize.
They depended on the kindness of locals on the remote Pacific island of Gambier as all their money and valuables were lost in the storm.
A presentation will be made to the couple tomorrow night to commemorate their safe return.
