Yesterday in the Dail, Mr Alan Shatter, referring to the inquiry into the high rate of Caesarean hysterectomies by a consultant which was revealed in recent days by The Irish Times, said that the hospital in question is Our Lady of Lourdes, in Drogheda. Last night RTE's Prime Time programme also identified the hospital and a named consultant as being at the centre of the inquiry.
The North Eastern Health Board declined to comment last night after the Prime Time programme when asked to confirm these details. The consultant in question could not be contacted at his home for comment.
