A school of yoga is seeking a High Court injunction to prevent a former director allegedly poaching its students.

The Irish School of Yoga, trading as Yoga Therapy and Training Centre Ltd (YTTC), which has centres in Cork, Galway and Dublin, claims Nicole Henkel is in breach of a March 2008 franchise agreement it has with her for the training of yoga teachers in the Munster area.

YTTC claims she is bound by a non-compete clause and that she is using confidential information to poach students. She denies the claims.

Ms Henkel, originally from Germany and married to an Irish man, claims she uses her own material and there is nothing in the franchise agreement relating to source material.

She claims she has been subject to bullying and harassment by YTTC tutor Roy Griffin. She denies the school’s claims that her activities are damaging its business. She also says the school’s action is wholly unwarranted and oppressive.

The hearing continues.
