Twenty-five men and two women have gone through to the semi- final of Macra na Feirme’s FBD Young Farmer of the Year competition.
The six finalists will be announced today before the final takes place in Kinnity, Co Offaly, tonight.
Former Macra na Feirme and IFA president Pádraig Walshe, will chair the judging panel.
The Young Farmer of the Year competition is run in partnership with the Irish Farmers’ Association and aims to recognise and reward the State’s top young farmers.
Entrants are judged on criteria such as farm business initiative and innovation; farm efficiency and enterprise quality; farm safety and environmental protection awareness, as well as agricultural knowledge and community involvement.
The competition has a prize fund of €10,000.
