A YOUNG man killed when his car went on fire after it collided with a truck had recently returned to Ireland from Australia, writes CONOR KANE.
The man, named locally as 22-year-old Aaron Duggan from outside Portlaw, Co Waterford, died after his car collided with a truck at 2.50am yesterday.
The incident happened on the N25 at Ballyshunnock, near Kilmacthomas, Co Waterford, when the car being driven by Mr Duggan crashed into an articulated lorry.
His car went on fire and Mr Duggan – who was alone – sustained fatal injuries. Gardaí said the lorry driver was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
Mr Duggan was from the Five Crossroads area, about five kilometres from Portlaw.
Local Fine Gael TD Paudie Coffey said the Duggan family were “a lovely, quiet family with a lot of relatives in the area”.
