A 16-year-old, received cuts to his head, legs, arms and left hand when he was assaulted by two hooded men wielding iron bars in a so-called paramilitary-style punishment attack in the Protestant Shankill Road area of west Belfast on Thursday night. The youth had to be treated in hospital.
Meanwhile, an RUC officer sustained a head injury when he was attacked by a crowd of youths during a house search in the largely Catholic Springhill Avenue area of west Belfast on Thursday afternoon.
