A 16-year-old youth who is charged with the rape of a French woman in Knocknacarra, Galway, last month was remanded in custody when he appeared before Galway District Court today.
The accused, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is charged with committing the offence on January 24th last.
Judge John Garavan refused an application by the youth's employer and from his father, who were both willing to post a total of £10,000 bail, and remanded the defendant in custody.
