A 17-year-old Offaly youth pleaded guilty yesterday to seven charges of sexual assault, one charge of attempted buggery and one charge of buggery of young boys between 1995 and last October. There were six victims.
Mr Gerard Clarke, defending, said the offences came to light when the health board took an interest in the matter. His client had been assessed by a psychologist and he sought a direction that a court-appointed psychologist or psychiatrist would examine him.
The defendant was remanded on continuing bail to Tullamore Circuit Court for sentence in July, pending the availability of the reports.
