Stockholm - A Swedish court convicted three youths yesterday of sexually exploiting a 14-year-old girl who was so drunk that the prosecution said rape charges could not be brought.
The prosecutor, Mr Anders Sundholm, said he had filed the charges of gross sexual exploitation because it was accepted that the girl was drunk and it would be impossible to establish whether or not she had consented to sex. All three were ordered into custodial care by social services, two were ordered to carry out community service, and all three to pay compensation totalling 184,000 Swedish crowns (£18,400) to the victim.
