Apology to Dr Maureen Gaffney
In the John Waters column published on Monday 19th January, 2004, under the heading "Challenge of lone parenting", Mr Waters was critical of Dr Maureen Gaffney, psychologist and chair of the National Economic and Social Forum, based on an unfair representation of views she had expressed during a Prime Time RTÉ 1 television debate with Mr Waters on January 13th, 2004. The article also wrongly questioned Dr Gaffney's personal and professional integrity. The Irish Times sincerely apologises to Dr Gaffney for the offence and distress caused to her.
