Corrections and clarifications: January 8th, 2009
An article in the edition of December 30th last, concerning the release of State papers for 1976, said that Bobby Molloy, as minister for defence, had advocated that the Asgard be buried at sea because of the prohibitive cost of restoration. In fact, Mr Molloy was not minister for defence at the time. Mr Molloy has pointed out that when he became minister for defence the following year he recommended preserving the boat and sought funds for this purpose.
An article in the edition of January 3rd, concerning the late Tony Gregory TD, stated that a year ago the Evening Heraldsent a reporter and photographer to his home to interview his brother about his illness. The Evening Heralddid not send a photographer.
