An article in last Friday’s edition, related to the killing of Michael Dwyer by Bolivian security forces, said he stayed in Bolivia “on the pretence of working as a security guard”. Mr Dwyer’s family have pointed out he informed them he was being employed as a security guard and there was no pretence involved.

In the edition of May 5th, an article on Garda retirements stated wrongly that Garda pensions are not subjected to any new Government levies. Garda pensions are subjected to the income and health levies but are not subjected to the public service pension levy.

A photograph in last Friday’s edition, of Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary, might have conveyed the impression that David Begg, general secretary of Ictu, is receiving directors’ fees from Aer Lingus. Ictu has pointed out that, under Congress rules, the remuneration for any person serving in a Congress-nominated position goes to Congress and not to the individual.
