THE Irish Business and Employers' Confederation (IBEC) has called on the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Bruton, to take urgent action on national industrial policy. In a statement yesterday, Mr Patrick Ryan, chairman of the IBEC committee on industrial policy, said it was now "seriously concerned" at the delay in the publication of the new enterprise strategy which had been expected before the summer.
"Despite much work having been done to identify barriers to competitiveness such as the Forfas Shaping Our Future report published earlier this year, little Government action has resulted."
Mr Bruton must move quickly to publish the strategy and to address other issues which affect the competitiveness of the Irish economy, Mr Ryan said.
