Sir, – I notified AIB in February 2022 that I wanted to switch my Ulster Bank account to my already open AIB account in May 2022 and completed a form to authorise it. I was advised that Ulster Bank would transfer all my direct debits on May 5th and notify all the relevant parties. Of course it didn’t work as planned by the Central Bank. AIB placed responsibility on Ulster Bank to complete the process and Ulster Bank blames AIB for the failure. They both blame the Central Bank for devising a process that is unworkable. No wonder Ulster Bank staff are stressed. – Yours, etc,
