A chara, – To add to Conor Pope’s article, “When it comes to food price hikes, there is no good news” (June 5th) about the food-price increases. Those of us who have to carefully plan and rely on own-brand food from budget supermarkets have been experiencing substantially higher price rises.
Take, for instance, the cost of own-brand milk from Aldi, Lidl and Supervalu.
They all charged the same price, 75 cent/litre in March. In April this went up, in unison, to 85 cent/litre.
Now, since May, they have all been charging 95 cent/litre.
