Sir, – I am bemused by various commentators (both media and politicians) who believe Boris Johnson should step down immediately on the basis that circa 40 per cent of his MPs no longer support him and that the views of this coterie somehow override the balance of the remaining 60 per cent.
Yet those very same commentators do not believe that approximately the same percentage of people in Northern Ireland who are opposed to the protocol have the right to be heard and that moreover the will of the other 60 per cent is inviolable. Now that’s what I call duplicity.
