Sir, – We read that 27 per cent of Ireland’s oil imports come from Russia, nearly all in the form of diesel and petrol for vehicles.
Dropping speed on motorways to 95km/h from 120, on smaller roads from 100 to 80 and from 80 to 60 and on urban roads from 50 to 40 would save an average of over 25 per cent of fuel consumption from both diesel trucks and cars and petrol cars.
It seems such an easy win and such a small sacrifice to totally eliminate a major dependence on a neo fascist autocrat for ever? How is a Green Minister not doing it right now?
