Sir, – Your motoring correspondent refers to the huge investment which is required to establish electric car charging points around the country (“Taking a smarter approach to charging electric vehicles”, Motoring, June 9th).
Surely a better solution is for manufacturers to use a small, defined range of batteries which can be easily changed in garages.
If the cars used in Formula 1 were electric this is what the teams would do and changing would probably take three or four seconds.
