Sir, – Further to the letter from Dermot Carthy about the possibility of repatriating some of the medieval Irish manuscripts currently in Switzerland (Letters, June 15th), your readers might like to know that an exhibition is being planned by the National Museum of Ireland, in collaboration with the abbey library in St Gall, that will bring some of the Irish books in the abbey library to Dublin.
They are among the earliest and most important Irish manuscripts from the “golden age” of Irish missionary saints and scholars, in many cases never before seen in this country.
– Yours, etc,
Prof (Emeritus)
