Sir, – My dictionary tells me that “to warn” means to inform someone in advance of a possible danger, problem or other unpleasant situation.
A headline in your Business section (June 23rd) has the ESRI warning of a significant slowdown in house price growth. I suspect those trying to buy their first home would see that as a consummation devoutly to be wished and not as a danger, problem or other unpleasant situation. – Yours, etc,
