Greed and the tourism industry

Jennifer O’Connell is right

Sir, – Sitting here in the sun in a trendy Munich café. Coffee and cake is less than €8, four-star hotel room with breakfast is €240 a night. Transport in the city, stunningly efficient, is €9 for the month. And it’s clean, always. The same in that gem of a a city Passau and across the border in Innsbruck. No price gouging, invariably impeccable standards, and a pleasant welcome. Jennifer O’Connell (“How is Dublin getting it so wrong”, Opinion & Analysis, June 25th) is right to highlight the gathering greed in our tourism industry. – Yours, etc,

PAUL MURRAY,
