Sir, – There have been comments about range anxiety with electric cars from some of your contributors, and rightly so, if you are travelling very long distances (Letters, July 26th and 29th).
However, these journeys should be put into perspective: Wexford to Donegal, 360km; Dingle to Dundalk, 425km; Dingle to Donegal, 432km; and Achill to Dublin, 290km.
I could go on with other examples but you can get the gist.
Looking at the electric range of Tesla, VW, Polestar, Ford, BMW and Mercedes, all exceed those journey distances, most with a lot of kilometres to spare.

Apple iPhone 16e review: Dropping some ‘nice to haves’ makes it cheaper, but not cheap
Yes, some makes have a lower distance range but most of these are over 200km, not a short journey in my eyes on a full battery.
Add in a break for the driver, and then this anxiety becomes even less of a concern.
I would have no issues in travelling home from the UK in an electric vehicle; the ferry companies have charging stations and there is an infrastructure to ease any worries I have.
We are at the start of an electric revolution; more fast-charge stations will come online and the pioneers of electric driving will have paved the way. – Yours, etc,
