Sir, – The headline “HSE apologises for payroll issues that delayed payments to trainee doctors” (News, August 7th) may lead some readers to think that these “trainees” are students hanging around the hospital. The people in question are qualified doctors who have worked a 40- to 70-hour week and have not received their salary. – Yours, etc,
