Sir, – It appears that not only will rural Ireland have fewer cows, it will also lose a portion of its tourist income due to holidays homes and mobile homes being taxed above the current local property tax levels (“Property tax on holiday homes should be increased to boost State’s finances, expert advisory group says”, News, August 6th).
What a great way to push people to sell up and move their holiday budget to our European neighbours, increase their carbon footprint and yet again reduce investment in the local economy.
Are working people not being taxed enough? – Yours, etc,
