Sir, – In recent days Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment Robert Troy described being unaware that a company he is a director of was still functioning in 2021 (“Fianna Fáil TD amends register of interests and apologises for ‘errors and omissions’”, News, August 18th). This seems particularly concerning with his ministerial remit including company regulation. He has also struggled to understand his ownership of various properties, and its implications to his ministerial office.
Since this news has broken, both the Taoiseach and the Tánaiste have defended Mr Troy’s actions. When is the next general election again? – Yours, etc,
Dr MARY SCRIVEN,
