The Greens – the price of internal conflict

Mediation consultants

Sir, – It seems the Green Party has a very novel way of sorting out its internal party convulsions (“Greens spend close to €22,000 on consultants to tackle party conflict”, August 26th). I am sure the “mediation consultants” hired at taxpayer expense to sort out matters are delighted to help out.

Given the party’s tendency to self-implode on a regular basis, they can look forward to many more pay days in the future! – Yours, etc,

Sir, – It beggars belief that the hard-pressed taxpayer is obliged to pay for the resolution of internal feuds in a political party that accounts for just 7 per cent support from the Irish electorate.

Perhaps the Greens should seek advice on how to deal with these matters from their partners in Government, who appear to be able to solve internal differences without recourse to the public purse. – Yours, etc,

Sir,– On Thursday last, my son and I had an argument that led to mediation being called in by both parties: his mother (my wife) offered her diplomatic skills.

Can my wife submit her invoice to the exchequer for payment? – Yours, etc,
