Sir, – One is reminded of the “apostolic succession” deliberations in reading Danny Morrison’s letter (August 30th).
So now we know why Michael Collins joined the revolution? Because Ireland was “unjustly governed”. As simple as that.
It would be hard to argue that Northern Ireland was “justly governed” since its founding, but does that justify what Mr Morrison’s associates put the place through, for all those years?
The Irish state, Free or Republic, was a largely failed state up until relatively recent decades, precisely what the Provisional IRA sought to turn Northern Ireland into.

I notice Mr Morrison still refuses to call the 26 Counties the Republic, and the Six Counties Northern Ireland.
Perhaps there’s a clue there as to what lies behind his reluctance to use accurate nomenclature?
It would appear there are many versions of the true gospel. And interpretations. – Yours, etc,
