Workers in multinationals are not drones

A huge contribution

Sir, – Further to “Serving overpriced sundaes to Russian oligarchs in London was not a tremendous use of my degree” (Peter Flanagan, Abroad, October 3rd), an estimated 275,000 people work in the multinational sector in Ireland. Their roles include product assembly, sales, accounting, research and development, and more. Irish workers contribute massively to these companies, as well as the industries they operate in. To suggest that these people are merely “drones”, as the writer puts it, should tell the reader far more about the writer than anything about the Irish economy. – Yours, etc,

NIALL MORAN,

Galway.
