Sir, – While reflecting on the many words written in recent weeks regarding border polls and polls on border polls, it has crossed my mind that no one has given consideration to the angle suggested by WB Yeats when he wrote to Lady Gregory in the run-up to partition in 1921: “I have long been of the opinion that if such a disagreeable people shut the door, we should turn the key in the lock before they change their mind.”
