Sir, – How does it make any sense to remove car parking at Leinster House (free) and replace it with very expensive (to the taxpayer) parking at a privately owned multistorey car park? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – The Government policy on reducing emissions seems to have forgotten about electric car users. It treats electric cars with the same disdain as petrol and diesel cars. All cars are to be discouraged.
We were told to buy electric cars, and now we are being told we won’t be able to park them, there won’t be road space and we should walk, cycle or use public transport. I would have thought that electric cars had fewer emissions than a bus.
Not everyone can access everywhere using public transport and the journey may be too long to walk or cycle. Car transport will have to be used by some people for various reasons.
Would it not make more sense to encourage the use of electric cars by allowing them to park and to increase the availability of car charging points? Many people will not invest in an electric car because adequate charging points are not available. – Yours, etc,
