Sir, – A ranking of the best cities for Gen-Z led Emma Mooney to lament Dublin’s and Ireland’s many, many failings in digitalisation, principles, lifestyle and economy.
It was disappointing to see no analysis of the methodology used in this ranking. The “weighted average” used by this survey somehow placed Medellín, Columbia, on 97th place, one above Dublin, despite its being lower than Dublin on 17 out of the 20 Gen-Z focussed “suitability and attractiveness factors” that were presented. How to obtain such unlikely outcomes from a numerical survey of cities seems likely to be of most interest to Fifa. Doha, Qatar, also outscored Dublin, in 85th place. – Yours, etc,
