Changing the primary curriculum

Sir, – An interesting background insight into the new primary curriculum by your education correspondent Carl O’Brien on December 28th.

In his “What will the school day look like?”, he outlines the time allocations for English, Irish, foreign language, maths, wellbeing, science/technology, social, personal and health education (SPHE), arts, religion and flexible time.

Where is the time allocation for history and geography? Have these useful subjects been quietly dropped?

In the Draft Curriculum Framework 2020 (NCCA), they are included. – Yours, etc,
