Sir, – Brian O’Brien suggests some may see merit in whittling down a list of job applicants by using the strategy used by David Brent in The Office , that is, to throw half the applicant CVs in the bin without reading them (Letters, December 31st).
A school principal I know had a slightly different strategy.
The CV of any applicant for a teaching post in his school was automatically binned if the offending envelope was addressed to “The Principle”. – Yours, etc,
