Sir, – I had the good fortune to be interviewed on a few occasions by Brian Hutton and am very saddened to read of his sudden passing on New Year’s Eve (“Journalist and Irish Times contributor Brian Hutton dies suddenly”, News, January 1st). Brian was a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with. He had a keen intellect matched with innate curiosity and compassion. He had a drive to produce journalistic work which would enhance our society and promote inclusion, equity and kindness. This is a huge loss to Irish journalism. He was an irreplaceable father to his beloved daughter Issy. May he rest in peace. – Yours, etc,
