Sir, – I refer to the letter by Teresa Morrissey of the IFA extolling the virtues of Irish salmon farms (February 2nd). She states that “organic feed is sourced mainly from discards, no pesticides are used”.
As somebody who is as organic as the next, I have some misgivings about the word “discards”.
Also, how are farmed salmon protected from sea lice and other infestations if no pesticides are used? – Yours, etc,
