Sir, – No one is denying the buzz the French fans brought to the stadium and the city in general last weekend. Long may it continue!
But I attended on Saturday and thought the Irish crowd got as fully behind the side during the game as any other time in the decades I’ve supported the team in the Aviva and the old Lansdowne Road. Andy Farrell and several players acknowledged the vocal support they received from the home fans.
However, Gerry Thornley won’t be happy until we behave like his beloved French fans, singing while jumping up and down in unison. Why not go the whole hog and insist we do the same while waving our Ireland jerseys over our heads, chanting “Give it a lash, Andy”? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – The next time you are writing from your plum free seats in the Aviva, maybe you could pen a guide on how you would like us to behave as we support our team and blow off steam and after a hard week of work ourselves.
