Sir, – Given the parlous state of the environment and the increased risk of flooding in low-lying lands, it must be only a matter of time before the ever-inventive real-estate advertisers come up with an index showing the height above sea level (HASL) as a selling point, to go alongside the building energy rating (BER). Those marketing gurus who have given us the “hidden gem”, the “sea glimpse”, the “deceptively spacious”, etc, could flog the properties in imminent danger of flooding as being HASL-free. – Yours, etc,
