Sir, – The relief, the pride, the joy! Here in France, the media has been in a frenzy over the end of season result, and hugely partisan. The way that the Irish squad conducted themselves over the past two months was such a source of pride , in their resilience, their discipline, and their unity. – Yours, etc,
AUDREY KASSELIS,
Lourdes,
France.
Ann Ingle: Deliberately going out of my way to move for no particular reason has never appealed to me
Gerry Thornley: How about an alternative look at Ireland’s Six Nations win over England?
Is Ireland anti-Semitic, an outlier of tolerance or in the middle ground?
How risky is it to buy a second-hand EV?
Sir, – A brilliant victory and a thoroughly enjoyable game. We needed a lift and the team supplied it. Thank you. – Yours, etc,
MARY DUNNE,
Dublin 8.
Sir, – “You couldn’t make it up” is probably now the world’s most worn-out phrase after this exceptional weekend for Irish rugby. But intimating that this was our first “home” grand slam is not only incorrect but discourteous to the all-Ireland game of rugby, a remarkable feature of the sport. Let’s not forget that our first grand slam was achieved in a win against Wales at Ravenhill, Belfast on March 13th, 1948. – Yours, etc,
MICHAEL GANNON,
Kilkenny.
Sir, – Listening to Freed from Desire being played on an endless loop had me wondering whether, like The Spinmaster in Father Ted, the stadium DJ only brought one record with them that day. –Yours, etc,
COLM O’CONNOR,
Waterford.
