Sir, – Michael Murphy’s letter (April 15th) contains a list of Joe Biden’s misdemeanours. He scolds the Irish media for their failure to challenge him on these. However, he does not offer any advice on how they should have done so. Should he have been confronted with them all together at one press gathering? Should he have been asked about them all at every opportunity? Should different journalists have each picked one and raised that specific one? What to do if president Biden ignored the question or questions? What should be done if he did not immediately repent to the Irish media?
Perhaps, someday Joe Biden will tell us that he regrets some of the decisions he made as a politician. It may also be true that he ought to. However, I doubt he or any other politician would do so at a press conference/event. – Yours, etc
