Sir, – Rescuing my washing at this start of a heavy shower recently, I remembered the reaction of my daughters years ago when I rushed to the line. A somewhat derisory “Why the panic?” and a rolling of the eyes! Fast-forward 30 years and now, with their own homes, they gallop to the rescue of their laundry at the first sign of rain.
