Asylum seekers and faith communities

Much help has been given

Sir, – In response to John D Rice’s letter (May 20th) suggesting the use of religious properties to house asylum seekers, 45 religious congregations have offered a range of properties from convents, student houses, retreat centres and rooms, free of charge in fulfilment of the Christian obligation to welcome the stranger. Religious are also engaged in teaching English and offering pastoral care and support to those fleeing persecution and war. – Yours, etc,

DAVID ROSE,

Secretary General,
