Now and then

Memory lane

A chara, – Paul Delaney’s trip down memory lane was going well, right up to the point where he mentioned his supper (“Now and then”, Letters, May 29th). In my day, the supper was “the tea”. – Is mise,

Sir, – May I add to Paul Delaney’s list of items from when I was growing up?

An Apple was a fruit, a Mac was a raincoat, a mouse was an unwelcome visitor to the house, a terminal was where the bus finished its journey, spiders created the Web, Windows we’re for looking out to see if the Cloud was blocking the Sun, a memory stick was probably my teacher’s cane, and I do wish we hadn’t gone all PC. – Yours, etc,

MARK SHEEHY,

Blessington,

Co Wicklow.
