A chara, – The Government and local authorities are to be congratulated for committing to improving and upgrading facilities for the cyclist. They have created several new cycle lanes and cycling routes which are hugely welcomed.
Alas, many cycle paths, old and new, do not have a maintenance programme. They remain unswept, often with broken undulating surfaces. Broken glass and sharp discarded items litter cycle pathways.
It is essential that the regular sweeping of cycle pathways and a cycle path surface maintenance programme are put in place by all city and county councils as a matter of priority. – Is mise,
