Sir, – Yet another child’s life ruined because he was ultimately let down by the Department of Education (“Former principal of Christian Brothers’ school jailed for sexually abusing pupil”, Home News, July 11th).
I have always felt that there must be some rotten element in the Department of Education that allowed this criminal behaviour to persist.
In my opinion, there needs to be a full statutory inquiry set up to establish why the Department of Education did nothing to prevent the plague of sexual assaults over the decades.
If the tribunal needs to go back to the 1950s, all well and good. – Yours, etc,
