Sir, – Proposals to add more parking in the vicinity of the airport are absurd (News, June 17th). First, more cars driving to the airport would be detrimental to the State’s climate targets. Second, I doubt it would take long for those extra spaces to be filled and for the spillover to affect north Co Dublin residents again.
I agree that public transport is the way forward, and not merely more buses and taxis. A rail link to the airport should be the Government’s top priority. However, Metrolink is another 20 years away and will be ludicrously expensive. My stance would be to create an overground spur off the Maynooth line after Broombridge, and have the track go around Finglas and Ballymun, directly to the airport. Then there would be an accessible line from Connolly. – Yours, etc,
