Sir, – If John Morrison’s “three pints, fags and a dance’' cost a half-crown (two shillings and sixpence) each in the mid-1950s (Letters, August 12th), that would have been a total of 12 shillings and sixpence. For “10 bob” (10 shillings), he’d have been restricted to having just two pints, a pack of cigarettes, and a dance. – Yours, etc,
