Sir, – What a joy to read these articles on the islands of Ireland (“Sherkin Island: ‘We really do live in a postcard, a stunningly beautiful place’”, August 17th).
They bring back such precious memories. In 1995, I took early retirement and planned visits to all the inhabited islands around Ireland – approximately 25, depending on whether you include those islands inhabited all year or others which are occupied solely in the summer months. I commend the idea to any fit and healthy person in their 60s. – Yours, etc,
