Sir – When I read about India’s space programme in “The new space race: Why are so many countries trying to land on the Moon?” (World, August 30th), it made me wonder why we in Ireland subscribe to NGOs that serve in India.
At least three major Irish NGOs provide services to deprived areas of India, a country of great contrasts in wealth.
I have been subscribing monthly to one of these NGOs for the past 20 years and will continue to do so as they serve in other countries much poorer than India. Might it not be better if India sorted out its deprived areas before embarking on such projects? – Yours, etc,
