Sir, – Your September 13th edition has two letters on driving tests. Donnacha Foley suggests that driver theory and driving retests be proposed for repeat offenders of driving infractions. A simple and effective deterrent, in my opinion. However, Mary Lee’s letter informs us that the national waiting time for driving tests is on average over 30 weeks. Unless more driving test centres are opened, surely the former will have a negative effect on the latter? – Yours, etc,
