I am reminded of a similar marketing ploy conducted in a midlands town. After a week of free deliveries of your newspaper, my father, who subscribed to a rival newspaper, was asked to complete a survey. In the section of the form headed “Any other observations”, he wrote: “Not enough death notices.” – Yours, etc,
